Let Us Make Acknowledgment

Psalm 107:10-17 - from the Septuagint

"The ones sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, being shackled in destitution and iron for they had rebelled against the words of God and they had provoked the counsel of the Most High. Their heart was humbled by their troubles. They grew weak and there was no one helping. And they cried out to the Lord as they were being oppressed and He saved them out of their distress. And He led them out of darkness and the shadow of death and he tore up their chains. Let them make acknowledgment to the Lord for His mercies and His wonders towards the sons of men because He broke the gates of bronze and He fractured the bars of iron into pieces. He took hold of them out of all of their lawlessness. because it was for their lawless that they were humbled."

Take hearts saints, for the desire of our Wonderful God and Father is to hear us when our hearts have been humbled by our own choices and rebellion.

Even in the times when we have become weak, and our troubles have multiplied upon us and there is no other one willing to help - He is waiting for our humble cry. If in the midst of our self-inflicted tribulation and destitution we will cry out to Him - He is willing to hear and rescue us.

He will smash the bronze gaits of the strongholds imprisoning us. He will fracture the iron bars of our prison cells into pieces and He will deliver us from OUR OWN LAWLESSNESS.

Let us MAKE ACKNOWLEDGMENT to the Lord for His wonderful works towards us.

If the consequences of our actions have brought us into bondage and despair - even there the Lord's mercy can reach us. I am reminded that the literal wording in the greek for "humble yourselves before the Lord" is actually

ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HUMBLED before the Lord.

When our foolishness and stubbornness have brought us into calamity and bondage, allow the consequences to humble us so that we can call out once again for mercy and see His wonderful works towards us again.
The above was taken from an e-mail Alan sent out a while back.
