Salt and Pepper

Salt and Pepper with a sign in-between is what captured my attention at the restaurant.  The sign mentioned the special of the day.

I also saw that although the salt and pepper were separated by the Special of the Day sign, it was obvious that this couple was a team.  The paper in between is only the purpose of which both will serve.

Their difference is needed for their calling.  Sometimes becoming more one, as a couple, is simply staying on the “same table” and remembering God’s special purpose.

We need to be careful in our thinking of what oneness looks like as a couple.  It is not necessarily being in the same shaker (although I’ve seen this in some spices).

Sometimes it is just “being on the same table”, ready to give, when our Father serves the dish.

“We need one another ; are dependent on one another---not as fountains, but as channels of blessing.”~R.C. Chapman

“Service is the overflow of super-abounding devotion; but, profoundly speaking, there is no call to that, it is my own little actual bit and is the echo of my identification with the nature of God.  Service is the natural part of my life.  God gets me into a relationship with Himself whereby I understand His call, then I do things out of sheer love for Him on my own account.  To serve God is the deliberate love-gift of a nature that has heard the call of God.”~Oswald Chambers
