Going Foward

It is okay to look back now and then, but our gaze must be guarded, especially in how long we linger!

In moments of confusion or feelings that we might be lost, we must recognize the temptation to figure out where we our headed by retracing our steps.

Going BACK, is NOT going forward.

We need to hear the Holy Spirit; otherwise, to start off in the wrong direction is discouraging. He knows where we are and how we got there, and He also knows the quickest way to where He desires us to go.

Rear view mirrors are nice to gage the traffic behind, but not intended for our constant gaze! The past is very much like this to us. It is a check point of where we have come from, but not meant to direct our progress, only to remember the lessons and learn from them...

"Our lives are full of supposes. Suppose this should happen, or suppose that should happen; what could we do; how could we bear it? But, if we are living in the high tower of the dwelling place of God, all these supposes will drop out of our lives. We shall be quiet from the fear of evil, for no threatenings of evil can penetrate into the high tower of God. Even when walking through the valley of the shadow of death, the psalmist could say, I will fear no evil; and, if we are dwelling in God, we can say so too." ~Hannah Whitall Smith

"Hindsight may or may not be 20/20, but you can't drive while staring in the rear view mirror." ~Derek McMinn

“It is God to whom and with whom we travel, and while He is the end of our journey, He is also at every stopping place.” — Elisabeth Elliot

Do not worry about the future. It makes no sense to worry if God Loves you and has taken care of you. However, when God blesses you remember to keep your eyes on Him and not the blessing. Enjoy your blessings day by day just as the Isrealites enjoyed their manna, but do not try to store the blessings for the future. There are two peculiar characteristics of pure faith. It sees God behind all the blessings and imperfect works which tend to conceal Him, and it holds the soul in a state of continued suspense...But faith is willing to let God act with the most perfect freedom, knowing that we belong to Him and are to be concerned only about being faithful in that which he has given us to do the for the moment. This moment by moment dependence, this dark, unseeing peacefulness of the soul under the utter uncertainty of the future, is a true martyrdom which takes place silently and without any stir. It is God's way of bringing a slow death to self. And the end comes so imperceptibly that it is often almost as much hidden from the sufferer himself, as from those who don't even know he suffers.” ~Felelon (Let Go: Letter 15 Pure Faith Sees God Alone)
