There are times I feel confident, and then suddenly I’m alarmed.
What happened? Why is constant peace so elusive?
One of my greatest weaknesses in those early years was insecurity.
What I have slowly learned is that life through a lens of insecurity
begins when the focus is all about “me”. Looking to protect
“myself” caused me to see things that were not there.
This perspective would change my very nature from peaceful
to paranoid.
I would lose that serene countenance and go from happily
carefree to hyper cautious. Instead of knowing the Father’s ability
to lead me beside the still waters, I would feel the pounding of
wind and waves and start to sink.
Tranquility came from slowly learning the practice of
focusing upon His presence rather than
mulling over my problems.
This is why LOOKING into the face of Christ provides the
right kind of confidence, one that has no need of men's approval
or props. It changes how we deal with the problems that
plague us. Fixing our eyes upon Jesus, we learn how to rest
without wearing ourselves out and those around us.
"Set your affections of things above, and not on
things of this earth" Col. 3:2
Simply put, let your view be through the eyes of the ONE
who has it all covered. The one who not only created you,
but has a special plan for you, that will reflect His glory.
Like a placid lake reflects the light of the Heavens, so
beholding HIM will change our very nature.
2Cor 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate
the LORD's glory, are being transformed into his image
with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the LORD,
who is the Spirit
"A good sign of how secure you are is what it takes to
offend you. the more secure we are, the less we take offense."
