"Momma, Momma look what
I found in the woods!"
Benjamin says as he holds up the long 'object' in his hands towards me.
"It looks like a stick to me."
I said, as I redirected the point of the wood away from my face.
"Well, it looks like a sword to me!"
Then with the enthusiasm of a crusader, he ran outside with "sword in hand."
It is a wonderful gift that children have, when what appears to be plain and useless to our natural eyes, becomes an envisioned treasure in their own. We need more of their ability to imagine, and we must learn to see with the eyes of faith if we would ever "conquer kingdoms."
When Jesus said "except you become as a child..." He must have understood this innocent abandon that younger ones embrace life with!
These children breathe the fresh air of trust. They do not deal with the same type of fears that hamper adults. They love and believe in the ones who care for them. Their enthusiasm is strengthened and sustained by an untainted hope so natural to them, they are not even aware of its real power.
This innocent state of trust is easily tarnished and diminished by life’s wounds, but daily cultivation will keep it alive...even in a world ruled by the evil one working to rob us of true joy.
Vision and Trust, walk together, and keep JOY alive, where ever they may go...because Christ is their Focus.
Father, cultivate a fresh vision of YOU this day! Open our eyes, to YOUR kingdom.
"He illuminates not only the object, but the faculty; doth not only open the mysteries of the kingdom, but opens blind eyes to behold them." ~Robert Leighton
