When Seasons Do Not Pass...

When my children were younger, and I was faced with what seemed like constant care. I remember finding great encouragement from the wise words of “this season will pass”

It was like a life-line to me. Sometimes it was those words I would refer to when the intensity would rise. It was my default mode of dealing with difficulty. It would get hard...and in my mind would come...
this will pass,
 this will pass,
this will pass...”
But, this never prepared me for the unexpected things that would come. This did not help me, when Anna came to us, because her special needs would NOT pass; my need became not something to PASS THROUGH but to LIVE IN.
So what do you do when the Season does NOT pass?

Difficulty VISITS us every season, but there are times it comes to LIVE with us. It brings lessons to teach, if we're listening. ONE is, that we're very needy, and the other, HE is able to lead us, step by step. The following are a few lessons from this place.
WEARINESS usually comes when we put limits on our struggles, saying in our hearts “I wish this was over” and we cast our “eyes on ends” instead of the NOW moments of His Grace. We walk, or sink here, like Peter.

 He says COME
 to those who are weary,
and it is especially
in the WAVES
(ie storms)
that we show where our focus is.
LEARN, in the struggles that come, to ask for direction, or to ask questions like “What are You wanting to teach me IN this?”

Past patterns and principles are good, but you might be surprised by His NEW answers when you ask in that moment of NEED. He desires that we keep needing HIM to guide us, and not just live by default. This keeps His mercies NEW – EVERY morning.
Seeking to let HIS peace reign IN our hearts will help to open our eyes and ears to the grace that is ABUNDANTLY available and SUFFICIENT.

This will have a powerful effect on our homes. Our countenance is often a reflection of what our hearts hold in hope – IN HIM. It is not that Peace always has a smile, but there is a aura of calm reflected upon our face when peace resides in our heart. It is like the scent of a flower; even when crushed, you smell the beautiful fragrance
So when Seasons Do Not Pass...remember, He is Always the Same, and He has something to speak IN our SEASON, for our every moment.
