Deceiving Ourselves
Do we recognize the danger of deceiving ourselves? When we ignore a word, are we likely to remember it? No, because we consider it only for a moment and reject it for our own thought.
Are we then accountable for what we do not even remember? Yes!
Remembering is a choice. Each time God's word comes to us by whatever means, we decide whether to receive it and act upon it or to consider it, ignore it, and forget it.
We will not only be judged for what we know, but for every thing we should have known but chose to ignore. One form of judgment very few understand is when God gives us over to our own thoughts. This is completely fair, because those who continually refuse His help have chosen their own ideas over His.
This is the strong delusion that God sends, a false confidence in our own opinion that destroys us because we refused to love the truth. Self deception is the worst kind! Wise men love correction - fools hate it! Let's not deceive ourselves - he who has ears to hear - choose to listen! ~Am
