Disappointments, His Appointments

There are times when events require something of us that we had not anticipated.


We find ourself let down, disappointed.
It seems as though others' plans have rearranged our own like a tidal wave that sweeps away everything in its path. 


At least, it  seems this way, but what starts out to be a

DISappointment, to the surrendered heart becomes HIS appointment.

Pass through these quickly in your mind, lest you miss out on your Father's best intentions. 

There is something very important in the changing of our plans, especially when yielding them to others, that is unseen until we have passed through.  On the other side of our conflict, a clearer understanding awaits.

The trouble often begins when we STOP in our hearts, instead of STEP forward to meet what will be required of us. We need not worry that the right feelings are not there at first.

Faith calls us to do what all our own planning fails to do...receive the change as from our Father's hand; yielding always leads us to HIM.

I was reminded again, today of David's heart in this matter of trust.  

"LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother:  my soul is even as a weaned child.  Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever." Ps.131

The tests of life are to make, not break us. Trouble may demolish a man's business but build up his character. The blow at the outward man may be the greatest blessing to the inner man. If God, then, puts or permits anything hard in our lives, be sure that the real peril, the real trouble, is that we shall lose if we flinch or rebel.

The Cure for Disappointment
“I am the Lord, the God of every person on the earth, Nothing is impossible for me.” Jer. 32:27We need to hear that God is still in control. We need to hear that it's not over til he says so. We need to hear that life's mishaps and tragedies are not a reason to bail out. They are simply a reason to sit tight.

Corrie ten Boom used to say, “when the train goes through a tunnel and the world gets dark, do you jump out? Of course not. You sit still and trust the engineer to get you through.”... The way to deal with discouragement? The cure for disappointment? Go back and read the story of God. Read it again and again. Be reminded that you aren't the first person to weep. And you aren't the first person to be helped.
Read the story and remember, (the) story is yours!
