There can be two places in life we might find ourselves
in when it comes to relationships or thought life - Digging or
Covering. Both of these are actions requiring something
from us and responses affecting others around us.
When we dig, we are making an open hole for others to fall into.
When we cover, we are removing the potholes that do so much
damage to others.
Love covers a multitude of sins, beginning with the small
offenses we have experienced from others. Learning to cover
our own wounds is like covering ruts in the road. When we
choose to remember and repeat others' offenses or sins
towards us, it's like holding a shovel to the ground. Every
recollection becomes a sharp tool lifting up dirt that was
never intended to leave the ground. Over time, dirt fills the air
and those once little offenses become a deep pit.
“He who digs a pit will fall into it...” Prov. 26:27a
and so will many others.
Love covers and keeps no record of wrongs because
it has no “self-interest” Abiding in Christ is abiding in a
love that builds up a safe way rather than digging damaging holes
"Is life not full of opportunities for learning love? Every man and woman every day has a thousand of them. The world is not a playground; it is a schoolroom. Life is not a holiday, but an education. And the one eternal lesson for us all is how better we can love." ~Henry Drummond
"Go forth today, by the help of God's Spirit, vowing and declaring that in life----come poverty, come wealth, in death---come pain or come what may, you are and ever must be the Lord's. For this is written on your heart, 'We love Him because He first loved us.'" ~Charles Spurgeon
Picture taken in 2000. This is one hole that we all were glad was covered. :)
