The ever present Call of Need

Her birth was quiet, and one of my most uneventful. Her life was quite different.  All my children would leave, but she would be ever present. In the early days, her special needs would SHOUT out.  Sometimes they would dominate our lives. She would give us another view of "normal", and this would be the beginning of my end.

This would be the answer to my prayers.

I have become convinced that how we handle the "Call of Need" in our lives, determines how that need will shape us.

If we despise the need, it stops shaping us. It will make us resentful, and we can fall into the attitude of what is owed to us, instead of the abundance right in front of us.

If we embrace it and listen to what it wants to speak to us,  we will learn things about ourselves that will change us forever. And there is a special BLESSING to be found in this present place of need.  There always will be, when we lift up our eyes to the ONE who is about showing us LIFE in the middle of our struggles.

We live in a society that does all that it can to STOP that feeling of helplessness, and replace it with shallow filters.  When you face your need as a friend, you stop pushing it away.  Our Heavenly Father has something to whisper in our ear, through our constant companion called NEED.  Are we hearing His call to come closer?  "HIS nearness is my good." Ps. 73:28

So we CELEBRATE this beautiful daughter of ours, as she enters her 32nd year.

We rejoice in the lessons that her needs continue to teach us of love and surrender, and that nearness to our Father, that makes JOY real.

When we all were together several years ago, we celebrated Anna's 30th.
