Receiving

Whitney was sharing something she received from Matthew, “See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.”  

What does a flower do to grow? Her first thought was- nothing. 

But then she realized that’s not exactly true. 

They receive.

They receive the sunshine and the rain to nourish and feed them. They also receive the wind and storms to strengthen their roots.  

 Faith is in this receiving.

Flowers receive, we humans resist.

We resist when we wrestle over our rights.

We know we have stopped receiving, when we start laboring and spinning to produce what we want.

We tend to forget who owns us, and that everything He sends to our lives (good and bad) will be used to establish us deeper, in His Love.

The key to this victory is faith and faith is just as invisible to the natural eye as the flower's unseen constant receiving.   When men see the beauty that results from our invisible heart of faith, it will seem to them that what we are doing is effortless.
