High Calling

Some of the most difficult “battles” on the home front, have been solved with the simplest answers. Sometimes trying to keep things simple, seems like one of the most challenging task of my life, as wife and mother. David reminds me in Psalms 131, the hope that is found in simple trusting for daily grace.

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty;
neither do I exercise myself in great matters,
or in things too high for me.”
Surely I have behaved and quieted myself,
as a child that is weaned of his mother,
as a child weaned of his mother:
my soul is even as a weaned child.
Let Israel hope in the Lord
from henceforth and forever.”
131: 1-3

The following acrostic expresses the “bottom line” of what I hope becomes engraved on my childrens' hearts. Learning faithfulness in the simple task of life, will allow us to experience hope, joy and peace that only comes when our hearts are set to please HIM alone. This is our High Calling.

Housework for Him
 In the little things, faithfulness
Going the second mile
Heavenly treasures, for hidden service

Christ is Lord
Always looking to serve
Leaving self-confidence
Loving others
 In His strength alone
Not complaining
Giving without being told

" Let a woman never be persuaded to forget that her calling is not lower and more earthly one of self-assertion, but the higher and more divine calling of self-sacrifice." ~ Charles Kingsley
