Preparing for Blindness?

Whitney sat at the table in front of her plate of food with a blind fold around her eyes. Everyone was eating like nothing unusual was going on.

“Please tell me why you have a blind fold on?”

Everyone looked at her about then, almost like they were seeing it for the first time, as we all waited for her answer.

 “Well, one day I might be blind, and I am preparing myself for this.” 

While one of my children rolled their eyes, the other was secretly sneaking some food from her plate, totally undetected by Whitney.

A few minutes later... “Hey, where's my chicken!!! You wouldn't treat a real blind person this way!”  With everyone laughing,  Whitney decided being blind at the table in our home was not safe enough.

Preparing for blindness? 

May be possible, 

but why? 

It seems there is a tendency in all of us to try and jump ahead to the unknown, rather than rest in the assurance of the known.

Sometimes fascination with what we cannot control will rob us or distract us from the fullness of joy that the Lord desires for us to experience today.
