Grocery Shopping

She can walk just fine, but when I go into a store with her, the manual / basket wheel chair helps me, as much as her.  She enjoys the ride, and I have a place for my groceries.  It also "contains" her from hugging every one.  I still have to  watch her, because now and then she will grab at some ones hand, as we are passing by.  For the most part, its a pleasant experience, except when she is irritated about something...

Like the other day, from the very start, she was expressing her displeasure.  I bent down, and whispered in her ear, "If you will behave yourself, I will get you something at the end."  She understood.  And through out the store, I continued to affirm "Your doing good" and "We are almost done"  She LOVES affirmation, like any child would.  And after what seemed like a longer store run, I realized how much sweeter our times together are, when her own contentment, does not "cry out" for some treat or to be constantly told, "your doing good"

Maturity's children are
contentment and peace.

And after our store run, I had to ask the question to my own heart, "Am I like that to you, Lord?"  always looking to be affirmed.  Looking for a "token of your goodness, instead of trusting, by faith, that YOU are Good, always providing all I need. Is this the calling from YOU to be like that weaned child?

And its a beautiful sight to behold, when Anna is sitting there enjoying the ride, because she captures others with her smile.

And its a beautiful sight, when I find that place of contentment, and receive His smile.

"But godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content."
I Timothy 6:6-8

Contentment has an internal quietness of heart that gladly submits to God in all circumstances.  Joni Eareckson Tada

"True contentment is a real, even an active, virtue--not only affirmative but creative.  It is the power of getting out of any situation all there is in it."  ~G.K. Chesterton
